Membership Application Process Guidelines:

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Unless specified, ALL FIELDS MUST BE FILLED OUT.
It will take 30 - 60 days for your application to go through the Membership Committee review process. We thank you in advance for your patience!
The Guild of Music Supervisors reserves the right to deny applications or revoke membership status at any time.
Official Guild communication channels shall not be abused. There will not be any inappropriate commercial solicitation through Guild communication channels.
Once approved, you will receive an official welcome email including website login information, payment options and opportunities for Guild involvement.

Please note, every form of membership is free to apply, however the annual dues for each Membership Level are listed at the bottom of the description for each level. A Friend of the Guild subscription is not a form of Guild membership and therefore does not require approval of an application.

FRIEND OF THE GUILD - $100.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) The Guild of Music Supervisors embraces the creative, passionate and diverse community that supports the craft of Music Supervision from a wide range of backgrounds. While NOT a form of GMS Membership, becoming a Friend of the Guild is an opportunity to get involved for those who may not work in Music Supervision (or directly related fields) but are nevertheless essential to our growth as a Guild, including:

Artists, Songwriters, Musicians
Agents
Music Educators
Managers
Students
Small to Mid-Level Third Party Pitching Companies & Sync Agents
DJs
Music Producers
Executive Music Producers

Benefits of becoming a Friend of the Guild include:
- Invitations to all GMS social events (we average 6 to 10 per year and plan to ramp up the networking opportunities with other Guilds and organizations in all media fields).
- Invitations to educational events, including our annual ‘State of Music in Media’ Conference.
- Subscription to our GMS Monthly Newsletter
- Opportunity to volunteer and participate in Guild events.
- Early Bird ticket opportunities for the annual GMS Awards and ‘State of Music in Media’ Conference

Freelance Membership - Free Subscription period: Unlimited
Freelance Membership is available to the following individuals:

1. Independent Music Supervisors

2. Those working in the role of a Music Supervisor as defined by the Guild Of Music Supervisors at a corporation whose primary purpose is Music Supervision, or putting music in media.

3. Those working in a role that is NOT Music Supervision at a corporation whose primary purpose is NOT Music Supervision, but who are obtaining Music Supervision work and/or credits outside of their corporate job (i.e. their role is not the source of their Music Supervision work).

DUES: $150 PER YEAR

Corporate Membership - Free Subscription period: Unlimited
Corporate Membership is available to those employed full-time in the role of a Music Supervisor at a corporation whose primary purpose is NOT Music Supervision (e.g. Film Studios, Television Studios and Networks, Production Companies, Video Game Publishers, Trailer Houses and Advertising Agencies)

DUES: $150 PER YEAR

Associate Membership - Free Subscription period: Unlimited
Associate Membership is available to the following individuals:

1. Aspiring Music Supervisors without enough commercially-released/aired media to qualify for Freelance Membership

2. Music Coordinators or Music Assistants (or equivalent) working under independent Music Supervisors or at companies whose primary function is Music Supervision or placing music in media.

3. Music Coordinators or Music Assistants (or equivalent) in-house at a corporation whose primary function is NOT Music Supervision (e.g. Film Studios) with under four (4) years total experience (at that corporation and/or elsewhere)

4. Professionals in directly adjacent or connected careers to Music Supervision, such as Music Clearance, Music Editorial or Music Licensing (i.e. Long Form Contracts).

DUES: $100 PER YEAR

Legacy Membership - Free Subscription period: Unlimited Legacy Membership is awarded to those who have had extensive careers and spent many years fulfilling the role of a Music Supervisor, as defined by the Guild Of Music Supervisors, in either a Freelance or Corporate capacity (or both). It is specifically designed for those who have now retired or are semi-retired and do not meet the credit requirements over the past four (4) years - but who have had an indelible impact on the craft.
